General Update...and a Bunch of Other BullshitPosted July 22, 2004 - PermaLink | Comments [9] It's been quite some time since I actually wrote a post. I find it easier to parody some news story or throw up some enlightening pics for captioning. Seems I have caught a bit of the lazys with it being summer and all. I mean the it's been in the mid 80s during the day, low 70s at night and the chicks are barely wearing anything. Miserable. No wonder the housing prices here are through the f'ing roof.
You may have noticed I have been playing with advertising on the site lately. I have been doing some research to see what works for other webmasters with similar sites. I had the banner thing going for awhile but I just think they detract from the site. Banners are too in-your-face.
There is no real need for me to make money off of this site. Right now my hosting bill is $0/month with Surpass Hosting. I have referred so many people to them they hooked me up with a free account - 2 gigs space and 30 gigs of transfer. Not too shabby. Since adding the videos I have been slowly eating up that bandwidth. I might actually have to pay soon to upgrade my account. That and curiosity have sparked my interest in pursuing a little advertising. I plan on giving a full report in the future on what works and what doesn't. Those of you who have your own sites should check back in a few months to get the skinny.
Just realized that this is also one of the first posts I have written from home in awhile. Usually I shirk at work and throw something together. Hell, most of this site was built at work! Disclaimer to employer: I am just kidding about building a lot of this site at work. So as I was saying, it's weird to do shit on the site from home. The only nice thing is I can throw back a few beers while working on the site. Intoxicated coding mixed with a little loud music makes for some great times...err...I mean getting DS from Carmen Electra makes for great times...errr...I really mean taking my girlfriend to see The Producers musical makes for a great time.
Speaking of beers, what the fuck is up with all this low-carb beer bullshit? If you want to lose weight you shouldn't be drinking any fucking alcohol in the first-place. Last I heard alcohol slows down your metabolism. Corporate America is just raking in the dough on the low-carb fad. Sure it may have merit but if you want to lose weight then go to a fucking gym. And if your shirt isn't soaking wet in 10 minutes you are wasting your god damn time.
And since I am ranting now let me say "fuck you" to all you discourteous Boost mobile and Nextel users out there. It's bad enough to have to listen to you recite the grocery list to your nooch at home so she is reassured you are picking up all the shit she put on your list. It's a whole lot worse when I gotta listen to your whiney-ass bitch chick yelping on the other end. And that god damn annoying sequence of beeps between transmissions is surely gonna send someone of their fucking rocker and AK-47 the joint before you know it. Look, the walkie-talkie feature is great for blue-collar in-the-field workers to use WHILE THEY ARE IN THE FIELD but you don't see those guys depressing their transmission buttons calling Spock when they are in the market. They have respect for the people around them and do what most courteous cell phone users do...use the PHONE feature.

With all that is happening here in the US it's crazy to think that some highly suspect events just seem to stay under the public radar. If you have a few minutes to kill check out this story about a lady's recent flying experience on Northwest Airlines.

btw - I wanted to give a quick shout-out to Ernie over at mentalernie.org. He has been very helpful in teaching me about some of the advertising techniques he uses on his site and what he has learned in his many years as a webmaster. Go check out mentalernie.org. Ernie's got a cool site and has a very unique way of putting together some hilarious posts.
